Lord Camoys is one of the UK’s most senior and experienced bankers having founded and run Barclays de ZoetteWedd (BZW) which later became Barclays Capital. He was a main board director of Barclays Bank plc for many years and remains closely involved. He has been connected with the Far East and the Indian Subcontinent throughout his career, working at the highest levels with central banks and major multi-national corporate and financial institutions. Most recently he served as Lord Chamberlain of the United Kingdom for Her Majesty The Queen and remains a permanent Lord in Waiting. He was awarded the GCVO in 1998 and made a Privy Councillor in the same year. He was made a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Gregory the Great by Pope Benedict XVI in 2006 for services to the Vatican. He is also a trustee of The Chequers Estate, the official country residence of the British Prime Minister. He has a M.A. Honours Degree in Modern History from Balliol College, Oxford University.
